In 2012-13, the developer, which builds projects that are backed by foreign direct investments, made around Rs.924 crore in revenue. Lengthy land-acquisition processes, policy bottlenecks, lack of infrastructure support, and the huge investments required are the main hurdles for such developers, according to a research note on integrated townships in India by Rohan Sharma, senior manager, research and real estate intelligence service, at property advisory Jones Lang La Salle.
Many other builders that develop integrated townships—clusters of housing and commercial spaces—are also experimenting with formats and setting deadlines for faster delivery of housing projects to avoid the long-gestation land aggregation process and regulatory issues large townships face.
